Via casting the feminine and the playful in the light of the serious, Anjaly elevates female creative crafts of their ‘lesser’ conceptions to the object of aesthetic contemplation. Her paintings confront the viewer with the worthiness and radicality of women’s expression by encouraging the audience to view techniques and materials traditionally associated with women’s craft from a fine arts perspective.
